“Have you ever looked in the mirror and wondered, ‘Who am I now?’ Motherhood changes everything—your routines, your priorities, even your sense of self. It’s beautiful, but it can also feel like you’ve lost a piece of yourself along the way. The good news? You don’t have to stay in that place. You can rediscover the woman you were—and the woman you’re becoming.”

Motherhood is a beautiful, life-changing journey—but it can also be all-consuming. Many moms wake up one day and realize they’ve lost themselves in the constant demands of parenting. Between diaper changes, school drop-offs, and endless to-do lists, it’s easy to forget who you are outside of being “mom.”
If you’ve ever thought, Who am I now?—you’re not alone. The good news? You don’t have to stay stuck in that feeling. You can reconnect with yourself in small, meaningful ways, starting today. Here are four simple steps to help you rediscover you again.
1. Remember Who You Were (and Who You Want to Be)
Before motherhood, you were a whole person with passions, dreams, and interests. That person is still there—you just might need to reconnect with her.
Take a moment to reflect:
• What did you love doing before kids?
• What dreams or goals have you put on hold?
• What activities make you feel most alive?
Write these down. Your identity isn’t just about who you were before kids—it’s also about who you want to become. You have permission to grow, change, and dream beyond motherhood!
2. Make Time for What Brings You Joy
It’s easy to put yourself last, but small moments of joy can make a big difference. You don’t need hours of free time—just start with something.
• Love reading? Pick up a book, even if it’s just 10 minutes a day.
• Enjoy music? Play your favorite songs while cooking or driving.
• Want to be more creative? Try journaling, painting, or crafting.
Prioritizing yourself isn’t selfish—it actually makes you a better mom. When you fill your own cup, you have more energy and joy to pour into your family.
3. Reconnect with Your Purpose
Motherhood is a part of your purpose, but it’s not your only purpose. You were created for more than just meeting everyone else’s needs.
Ask yourself:
• What excites and inspires me?
• What kind of impact do I want to make?
• How can I start taking small steps toward my purpose?
Whether it’s volunteering, starting a side business, deepening your faith, or pursuing a new career, don’t be afraid to step into the things that give you meaning.
4. Surround Yourself with Support
You don’t have to figure this out alone. Find people who encourage you, inspire you, and remind you that you matter too.
• Join a group of like-minded women who share your interests.
• Talk to a coach or mentor who can help you gain clarity.
• Set up regular check-ins with a friend who keeps you accountable.
Having the right support can make all the difference in helping you stay committed to rediscovering yourself.
You Are More Than “Mom”
Being a mom is an incredible part of who you are, but it’s not the only part. You deserve to live a full, joyful, purpose-filled life. Start small, take action, and give yourself permission to grow.
